Chat and voice

Typing to Zoe on your phone, starting and ending a voice call, what voice is best for, how conversations and history work, and how to switch between organizations.

Updated 2026-09-05

AINOW Mobile puts one screen in front of you: a voice orb with a message box under it. Tap the orb to talk, or start typing to write. Both land in the same conversation, backed by the same Zoe you use on the web — the same connected systems, the same skills, and the same rule that nothing changes until you approve it.

The one screen

The app opens on home: the orb, a short governance line, and the message box. Home always stages a fresh conversation, so whichever you tap, you start something new.

  • Type in the message box and the screen morphs into the conversation as you write.
  • Tap the orb and a call starts on that fresh conversation.
  • Tap back (the arrow in the header, or your phone's back gesture) to return to a fresh home. The conversation you left is not lost — it is saved on the server and waiting in your history.

At the top left is your organization's tile — its logo, or its initial. At the top right is your avatar.

Chat parity with the web

Answers on the phone come from the same assistant, the same knowledge, and the same connected systems as Zoe on the web. When Zoe prepares a change in a connected system, you get the same governed approval card, field by field, with the same Approve and Reject buttons — see Approvals in Zoe.

While Zoe works, a checklist appears under the reply showing each step as it runs, succeeds, or fails. Replies render formatting and tappable links, so a link to a ticket or a document opens straight from the answer.

Zoe may carry your organization's own name in the app if your administrators renamed the assistant; the behaviour is the same either way.

Your conversations

Tap the organization tile at the top left to open the organization menu. It holds:

  • New conversation — a second way back to a staged fresh home.
  • Switch organization — shown only if you belong to more than one.
  • Your conversation history, grouped by day, each row previewing its first exchange.

Tap any row to reopen that conversation and carry on where you left off, by typing or by voice.

Voice mode

Voice is available when your organization has the voice module enabled. If it is not, you get the same screen without the orb and microphone button — composer-first, everything else unchanged.

Start a call

  1. From home, tap the orb. The call starts on a fresh conversation.
  2. Or, inside a conversation, tap the microphone button on the left of the message box. The call continues that conversation, so Zoe already has its context.
  3. Grant the microphone permission the first time you are asked.
  4. Wait for the call to connect, then speak.

During a call

The call streams live on screen as a conversation you can read, so nothing said is lost. The message box is replaced by a call bar with:

  • a mute control,
  • a moving waveform while you speak,
  • the elapsed time,
  • a red end button.

Switching to another screen in the app does not end the call, and neither does the back gesture — ending a call is the red button's job. Approval cards that come up mid-call appear right in the transcript and can be decided without hanging up.

End a call

Tap the red end button. The call also ends itself after about twenty seconds of mutual silence — you have said nothing and Zoe is not speaking or working — so a call forgotten in a pocket does not run on. Muting does not count as activity: a muted call with an idle assistant still ends at the same threshold.

When the call ends, the transcript stays on screen and the conversation stays in your history. Reread it later, or pick it up by typing.

What voice is good for

Voice earns its place when your hands or eyes are busy: between meetings, walking to a site, driving hands-free, or on a shop floor. Ask for a ticket's status, add a note, get a summary of what changed overnight, or set something in motion and approve it before you arrive. When you need to read carefully, compare fields, or check a long list, typing is usually faster — and you can switch mid-conversation without losing the thread.

Switching organizations

If you belong to more than one AINOW organization:

  1. Tap the organization tile at the top left.
  2. Tap Switch organization.
  3. Pick the organization you want.

The app reloads your workspace for that organization: its conversations, its approvals, its connected systems, and its branding. Nothing carries across — each organization's data stays its own.

Themes

Tap your avatar at the top right to open the account menu, then Theme… to choose Light, Dark, or System. Sign out lives in the same menu.

Available capabilities depend on your organization's plan and the systems it has connected.
